All Chicago GMs suck

John Paxson. Kenny Williams. Jim Hendry. Jerry Angelo.

What do these 4 men have in common? Aside from being GM’s of Chicago sports teams? I’ll tell you what. They all suck. None of them are any good. Angelo is a moron when it comes to constructing the Bears. Kenny Williams thinks he can build a team to win it all while being cheap. John Paxson thinks the team he’s built can contend for a title. Jim Hendry likes to acquire garbage, and when he has a chance to get rid of that garbage for something useful, he either hangs on to the player and lets him walk, or he waits until his value is so low that all other teams offer him in return is garbage. Why can’t we have competent GM’s around here!!??

    While I agree with you whole heartedly about Paxon (wtf is with firing a coach in the middle of a season?) and Williams (sox suck) I have to disagree with you a little with Angelo and a lot with Hendry.

    Angelo has one singular problem right now. His refusal to let go that which is Grossman. His aquisition of Hester was great. Hester’s rookie year was awesome. Sure he had as many fumbles and muffs as touchdown returns, but he is young and learning. And as fast as he his, I can see him really exploding in the WR category in a few years.
    We drafted a fine TE last year that wasn’t able to showcase his skills because of a lack of QB behind center. If we could get a competent quarterback I believe Olsen can make a world of difference. Don’t get me wrong though, I do disagree with Angelo’s franchise tagging of Briggs last year and his refusal to throw away the garbage, but he is hardly a horrible GM.

    Look at what the cubbies did last year. They were amazing for awhile, then tinkered off and sure, got their asses handed to them in the playoffs, but as you point out in your other article, they are looking much improved this year and I believe Hendry helped out in that regard by acquiring the talent that we have.

    Anyway, I stumbled (literally) across your blog and being that I was born and raised in the windy city, you have been bookmarked and shall get a stumble thumbsup.

    And Hendry is a moron. I don’t care if he fixed up the team, he still sucks as a GM. He needs to go.

    jim hendry a good gm? cmon. hes also not a very devout christian….

    Kenny is solid on the other hand. He seems to be done being cheap (sox have on of the top 5 payrolls i believe) and will go out and make trades for big names (peavy) along with finding players who are able to rejuivinate their careers (quetin, andrew jones)

    paxson is a good gm, firing coaches mid-season is a very common thing these days.

    but jerry angelo is one of the worst gms i have ever seen in my life.
